FORMER w orld number one Tig er Woods said al cohol w as no t a factor in his DUI arr est on Monday and in stead bl amed an unexpected r eaction t o pr escribed medications.
Woods, who is curr ently sidelined fr om c ompetition af ter ha ving his f ourth b ack sur gery in April, said in a s tatement he took full r esponsibility f or his ac tions and apol ogised t o his f amily, friends and f ans.
“I w ant the public t o kno w that al cohol w as no t inv olved. What happened w as an une xpected r eaction t o pr escribed medications,” he said. “I didn ’t realise the mix o f medic ations had af fected me so s trongly."
Woods w as r eleased s everal hours af ter being book ed.
