IF you are thinking we have got away with a mild winter so far, brace yourself — colder weather is on the cards for KZN.

South African Weather Services is forecasting that a cold front will hit the province on Monday.

“Isolated morning showers will be possible along the coastal areas of KwaZuluNatal on this day, while very cold mornings with frosty conditions are expected across most of the interior,” said Ezekiel Sebego, weather forecaster.

Sebego said Eastern Cape and Western Cape residents should brace themselves for a big freeze this weekend, which should bring muchneeded rain to droughtstricken areas.

“A cold front is expected to make landfall over the Western Cape on Saturday overnight into the early hours of Sunday morning. Ahead of the front, rain and showers are possible over the southwestern parts of the Western Cape from Saturday afternoon, spreading to the remainder of the Western Cape and the western and southern parts of the Northern Cape on Sunday.

“Rain and showers will be expected over the Eastern Cape by Sunday afternoon. Significant rainfall is expected over the southwestern parts of the Western Cape during Sunday morning which may result in localised flooding in places in the Cape Metropole, Overberg and Cape Wineland Districts,” he said.
