THE Msun­duzi Mu­nic­i­pal­ity’s Aloe Ridge West­gate­Grange So­cial Hous­ing project was run­ner­up in the best so­cial hous­ing project cat­e­gory dur­ing the na­tional Go­van Mbeki Awards.

The hous­ing project, launched in April as the big­gest so­cial hous­ing project in the coun­try, won the first place in the pro­vin­cial awards.

KZN Depart­ment of Hu­man Set­tle­ments and the Western Cape were jointly named as the Over­all Best Per­form­ing Prov­inces for 2017 in sus­tain­able hu­man set­tle­ments de­liv­ery, at an event on Thurs­day.

KZN won the pro­vin­cial award for the fourth time in a row.

MEC Rav­i­gasen Pil­lay said in a state­ment win­ning the top per­form­ing prov­ince cat­e­gory showed their de­ter­mi­na­tion to try to do things in a bet­ter way than be­fore.

“Do­ing it cor­rect comes with a lot of hard work, work­ing as a team ... What sobers al­ways is the huge back­log,” said Pil­lay. — WR.
