A great day of road run­ning in Eden­dale

ATH­LETES en­joyed a great day of road run­ning as the Eden­dale com­mu­nity and the na­tion’s top short dis­tance and recre­ational run­ners con­verged on the FNB Wadley Sta­dium in Eden­dale for the 11th edi­tion of the ever­pop­u­lar Greater Eden­dale 10 km race on Sun­day.

The race is a cor­po­rate so­cial in­vest­ment ini­tia­tive of the Com­rades Marathon As­so­ci­a­tion (CMA), which hosts the an­nual event in con­junc­tion with the Msun­duzi Mu­nic­i­pal­ity and the Msun­duzi­Pi­eter­mar­itzburg Tourism As­so­ci­a­tion. The much­loved an­nual event saw an amaz­ing turnout by the com­mu­nity, in terms of par­tic­i­pa­tion and sup­port, with over a thou­sand par­ tic­i­pants. Prize money to the tune of R21 000 was pre­sented to the win­ners in var­i­ous cat­e­gories; as well as addi­ tional lucky draw prizes. Sipho Mban­jwa took the first prize of R3 000 for the first man and Jenet Mb­hele claimed the same amount for first woman po­si­tion.
