Treat for the Pink Floyd fans

The Witness - - ARTS -

DURBAN band Templar Funk will be paying tribute to British rock band Pink Floyd in Wish You Were Here at 7 pm for 7.30 pm on February 17 at the Hexagon Theatre at the University of KwaZuluNatal’s Pietermaritzburg campus.

Pink Floyd’s music, apart from one or two wellworn standards, is both complex, diverse and not easy to recreate in a local context.

Neil Ford (bass), Steven Squier (guitar and vocals) and Ross Tapson (guitar and vocals) have taken on the challenge of bringing the band’s songs to local stages and have called in a couple of friends to help them out.

Joining them will be Dulcie Erasmus on keyboards and vocals, Grant Halliday on drums and Martin Sigamoney on saxophone.

Wish You Were Here, which has enjoyed soldout performances in Durban, Richards Bay and Ramsgate, will explore aspects of the Pink Floyd repertoire that haven’t been covered extensively, even by Pink Floyd themselves.

That means fans can expect to hear wellloved classics as well as betterknown songs from albums like Wish You Were Here and Momentary Lapse of Reason.

Tickets are R120. The evening is a picnicstyle show, so take your food, but no drinks. There is a cash bar. Tables seat 10, but bookings can be for fewer. To book, email
