De Sa aiming for Nedbank Cup glory

PLATINUM Stars coach Roger de Sa harbours ambitions of taking Dikwena all the way to glory in the Nedbank Cup, despite the team’s league problems.

Though Dikwena’s priority is to move from the basement of the Absa Premiership table, De Sa says his side will give their best when they host Baroka FC in the Nedbank Cup last 32 at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace today.

“Cups can turn your season around. We are going to give a couple of players a rest, but our priority is to win the game. We are definitely going to give it our best shot. Baroka made a name for themselves in this competition. Remember, they knocked Kaizer Chiefs out some years ago. It’s a competition that they really enjoy. We know it’s going to be a difficult one. We want to go as far as we can. Our priority is to win,” said De Sa.

He wants his men to maintain the momentum that saw them stage an impressive comeback when Dikwena played to a 33 draw against Chippa United in their last match.

The draw for the last 16 will be staged tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Polokwane City have confirmed that defender Mogau Tshehla died in a car accident on Monday night.

The 26yearold rightback, who played in the team’s last fixture in the Nedbank Cup against Ubuntu Cape Town last week, joined Rise and Shine in January 2017 from NDF side Witbank Spurs. — KickOff, Sport24.
