PART 2 OF 6 Secret # 1: Acquire Spiritual Knowledge, Acquire Business Knowledge.

In the olden days Lord God would just pick up someone from the streets and send him to be a prophet to teach the word of Lord God. This practice still happens even today, and is likely to happen even for many years to come. This is because Lord God decides how to do whatever Lord God has decided to do because the universe belongs to him. Nevertheless it must be appreciated that times have changed dramatically from the times that Lord God instructed Moses ( for example) to liberate the Israelites from the bondage of Pharaohs. The world in its material sense is not the same. This change itself is permitted by Lord God himself.

While one may be driven by the Holy Spirit to teach and spread the word of Lord God, it is however important that one must ‘ top- up’ the spiritual force with some academic knowledge . It is not coincidence of history that most of the churches that are run purely based on the spiritual force that is not backed by some academic knowledge are the poorest and least developed. There are numerous avenues that one can make use of to acquire this spiritual knowledge.

Some of them include, but are not limited to the following;

Get a Spiritual Mentor/Guide; There are several people or experts who had been long in the business of the church. Others have studied at worldclass universities to boost their knowledge of the Holy Bible. These experts are generally willing to assist to mentor those who request their services.

Attend Conferences; At the conference you stand a chance to acquire a lot of valuable information that has been packaged by experts. This also gives you an opportunity to mix with people who have the same interests and mind with yourself, that is networking. With networking the sky becomes a limit.

Read Magazines; Magazines are also written, generally, by experts in various fields. A lot of information is consolidated in one magazine which information can be very useful for your cause.

Get books from the city library; Every city/town/village in South Africa has a city library that lends out books to the public for five days per week.

There are numerous other options that one can explore to help him to ‘ boost’ one’s spiritual knowledge. Advantages;

One of the most important advantages of getting improved knowledge on spirituality is that it affords you an opportunity to give a correct interpretation of the scriptures. Making use of correct interpretation of the scriptures has a healing effect to the congregation. The more the congregants believe that the sermons have a healing effect on them, the more they are likely to invite more guests to come by to also get the much needed spiritual healing.

Another related advantage is that the sermons become well coordinated, and well structured which improves the impact and the strength of the message that is being sent across. A sermon that is uncoordinated and unstructured is of less interest to any guest.

The scriptures have a certain context. Sermons must be delivered and applied to address the situations that affect the congregants on a daily basis. Preaching out of context is a waste of everyone’s time and is a turn off to the congregation . Every sermon that is delivered has to ‘ heal’ one or more congregants as opposed to preaching for the sake of preaching to run the time. Acquire Business Knowledge;

Roman Catholic Church, among other multinational churches has more than 1 billion members worldwide. Of course it has been in existence for several centuries. The main factor to note is that this gigantic church is run like a business. If you aspire to run a multibillion rand church in South Africa, and anywhere for that matter, then you must invest in acquiring business knowledge. There are several business skills that you ought to have. Some include, but are not limited to inter-alia; Business Management. Marketing.

Computer Literacy.

Finance & Accounting; and many more.

The same methods that are cited in the preceding paragraphs on what you must do to acquire knowledge equally apply in business knowledge. As a leader of a church you may not necessarily be a business expert as such, however it is absolutely necessary and essential that you must have a solid business background which will help you to direct the activities with insight and vision.

In our next session we will continue to discuss other important topics like the model/structure that one could adopt, and many more.
