Meet Julia Roberts
Actress JULIA has had a BEAUTIFUL RELATIONSHIP with La Vie est Belle by LANCÔME. She chats about the fragrance and more.
Beauty with soul is an indefinable concept. Yet, Julia Roberts effortlessly embodies these qualities. If reference dictionaries were being written up, the entry for femininity could simply be explained with a note stating: see Julia Roberts. Undoubtedly, life with Julia Roberts is a beautiful one.
You’ve been with Lancôme for years now. How has your relationship with the brand evolved?
I can go on and on about how great Lancôme and the people I work with on a regular basis are. I always tell them I want to be an ageing model, so they have to keep me for at least five more years, until I’m over 50. I went from being a representative of the brand to being a part of the family. When they were developing the perfume I represent, La Vie est Belle – a French saying that tranbslates to ‘life is beautiful’– they included me in every step of the process.
On what occasions do you say to yourself, La vie est Belle’?
When I get to work with people I enjoy. For Lancôme, there are a certain number of days a year when we all come together – the teams from France and New York, – and we actually do work. It’s like the girlish dream of playing dress-up — having the most beautiful creams put on your face, the most luscious mascara swiped onto your lashes. It’s so fun, and my kids always come along when they get out of school.
What does the bottle symbolise?
It makes for a beautiful day when your personal life intertwines with the professional part in a harmonious way. The bottle resembles a resplendent smile and crystalline light, the harmony of life.
What does La vie est Belle say to you?
It exudes the simplicity of truth and sincerity, just like quintessentially French beauty; that famous, radiant ‘je ne sais quoi’ that goes beyond beauty.
The La Vie est Belle woman is…
These women are everywhere, in all their diversity.
