Not only is 33-year-old Khabonina a talented actress and dancer, she’s also a fitness fanatic and her love for fitness has landed her her own show called Gym eKasi, on the OpenView HD’s eKasi+ channel at 19:00 on Tuesdays.
How did Gym eKasi come about? The idea’s been on my mind for years. My aim was that if no channel picked it up, I was going to have it as an online show.
What impact are you trying to make on ordinary South Africans with the show?
It gives information on how to live a healthier lifestyle. It also helps you work out without having to pay gym membership fees.
So what exercise tips can you give our readers?
Do exercises that you enjoy, wear something comfortable and if you can get a workout partner so that you’re motivating each other, that would be great.
So what’s your favourite type of exercise and why?
A lot of people just go to gym and do their exercising without stretching first, so for me stretching is one of the best forms of exercises – and that’s why I love yoga. I also like running and swimming because they are great for cardio and toning. What’s your fitness philosophy? A happy body equals a happy mind.
