Barker’s back and he’s eyeing Sibeko Gold.
It’s been a while since we saw barker (robert whitehead) show his evil colours, but the big bad businessman’s making a comeback. with lincoln (lindani nkosi) out the country, barker goes after sibeko gold on wednesday 18 february. his weapon of choice? a smear campaign against lincoln sibeko.
getting info on africa’s most powerful mining magnate won’t be easy, so barker turns to his trusty nephew bradley (izak davel) to do the digging. “barker has brad find incriminating information about lincoln,” robert reveals. and he’s going to go public with it. “barker wants to use an interview to reveal the dirty laundry that will be the downfall of the sibekos,” robert adds. “barker always finds information to tarnish his enemies’ image.” but we’ll have to wait until later in march to see if the sibeko info is legitimate.
in the know
nikiwe and katlego (linda sokhulu and kgomotso christopher) quickly realise what barker’s up to on thursday 19 february. “they don’t freak out,” linda makes clear. “nikiwe doesn’t believe the speculations against lincoln.” but it seems that katlego feels differently. “it feels like she knows more than she’s letting on,” linda hints. “she knows something…”
target acquired
regardless of who knows what, by friday 20 february, someone makes it clear to barker that he’d better back down or face death and they send him a threat. “he gets a bullet with his name on it,” robert says bluntly. but barker doesn’t get scared off that easily, simply brushing the threatening token aside.
realising that their target isn’t going to be intimidated, the anonymous enemy turns their attention towards someone close to barker. brad and palesa (pearl thusi) wake up in the middle of the night on thursday 26 february to find a masked gunman hanging over their bed! a quickthinking brad overpowers the gunman and wrestles him to the floor, only for the attacker to escape. barker’s clearly shaken when he finds out about the incident on friday 27 february and “he even considers throwing in the towel, especially now that he fears for bradley,” robert admits.
brad surprises his uncle though and insists that they push through with their plan to destroy the sibekos. “more than ever, he’s convinced that he wants to fight alongside his uncle against the sibekos,” robert says. and by the looks of things, brad and barker will become a force to be reckoned with in the months to come…
