the ninja turtles are here!
Kids from the ’80s and ’90s know all about the teenage mutant ninja turtles and their fight against the evil shredder. now the “heroes in the half shell” are back and the action starts with wannabe journalist april o’neil (megan fox) recording a hostage situation in the subway that goes horribly wrong for the foot soldiers, who’re beaten by an unseen force. when she sneaks video footage of leonardo, donatello, raphael and michelangelo, the turtles are left with no option but to take her to their sewer lair to meet master splinter. their origins are revealed and it turns out that april and the guys have history, which their enemies shredder and businessman eric sacks (william fichtner) use to their advantage to kidnap three of the group and drain their bodies of the invaluable mutagen coursing through their veins. it’s now up to raphael to put his training and anger to good use and rescue his brothers before they’re killed. Why it’s hot: it’s directed by jonathan liebesman, the man behind 2011’s battle los angeles and 2012’s wrath of the titans, so it’s epic from the start. but there’s more – it’s executive produced by michael bay: you know, the guy who blew up the movie world with the transformers movies (2007-current), so there are loads of explosions and action. the cgi making the turtles real is brilliant, megan is perfect as april and the best bit is that it stays true to turtle folklore, with mutagen transforming the turtles and the shredder being an ancient japanese warlord.
