Horizon Deep’s criminals can breathe a huge sigh of relief, because the mining town’s top cop is packing her bags. Priya (Leeanda Reddy) is caving under life’s pressures and on Monday 1 June, she’s ready to wave goodbye to Horizon Deep forever…

“It was my idea to leave,” Leeanda explains emphatically. While she won’t go into too much detail about her reasons for leaving, the mother of two is open to returning to Isidingo one day. “Priya doesn’t die or anything, so the writers might want her back,” Leeanda says. And that’s a sentiment echoed by the soapie’s headwriter Rohan Dickson, who adds that there’s definitely hope for Priya’s return one day. “The character has not left the show permanently,” Rohan assures us. “The door is very much open for Priya to return.”

REVAMPED RAJ, STEADY EDDIE

So what does Priya’s departure mean for the characters she mingled with the most? Rohan tells us that Rajesh won’t be down in the dumps for too long. “He’s going to spend a bit of time getting used to the idea of being alone, then he’s going to go through a major reinvention.” Meanwhile, Priya’s police partner Eddie (Paul Buckby) will see her leaving as an opportunity to get the job that he’s
