al­ways dreamt of. “He’ll be go­ing solo for now, but we have plans for him to ad­vance his ca­reer,” Rohan re­veals. “He’s had a bit of a che­quered ca­reer in terms of be­ing a cop. He’s had ups and downs, things that have made him look bad, and we want to kind of re-es­tab­lish Ed­die as a good guy and a good cop.”

THINK­ING AHEAD

While the min­ing town’s res­i­dents come to grips with the loss, actress Lee­anda is al­ready mov­ing on and is tack­ling the free­lance act­ing in­dus­try af­ter many years of be­ing on con­tract at Isidingo. “It sounds daunt­ing, but I’m ready,” says Lee­anda, who filmed her fi­nal Isidingo scene at the end of April. “I re­cently got a role in a drama that’s be­ing shot for in­ter­na­tional and lo­cal TV. There will be some film work both be­hind and in front of the cam­era and some theatre – for now.”

But she ad­mits that leav­ing the SABC3 soap was no easy task. “It was emo­tional. I was say­ing good­bye to an ex­tra­or­di­nary team. I didn’t strug­gle dur­ing the shoot­ing of the fi­nal scene – re­al­ity only struck me af­ter the scene.”
