Dying Lexie’s family help her embrace the little life she has left.
Days Of Our Lives
Weekdays SABC3 17:00
There’s nothing that Lexie Carver (Renée Jones) can do to stop her impending death. On Tuesday 26 May, she told her half-brother Chad (Casey Deidrick), “There comes a time when acceptance is the only choice we have, okay? I’m not going to spend the rest of my time chasing after something that can never happen. This is the time for me. For people I love.” With the clock ticking away, she’s determined to enjoy what time she has left, because death is coming for Lexie in early July…
TIME FOR LIFE
Days is taking time to honour Renée’s character, who first appeared in 1993, with a send- off that’s all about celebrating love, life and family. “I didn’t want a horrible cancer death,” reveals Renée. “I worried about my mother because my sister died of cancer a few years ago and my mom watches the show religiously and I didn’t want her to have to watch that. So they came up with the idea of a brain tumour. There will be lots of crying, lots of goodbyes, but it will be very beautiful.”
HER BUCKET LIST
On Thursday 28 May, Lexie announces that she’s refusing treatment and wants to enjoy the time she has. Then she presents a bucket list of things she’d like to do before she dies. Like bungee jumping, seeing Paris in spring, making video diaries for Theo (Terrell Ransom Jr) when he’s older and getting Abe (James Reynolds) his job as mayor back.
On Tuesday 9 June, Abe helps Lexie prepare to travel to Paris with her whole family. Even EJ (James Scott) pitches in by arranging a private jet for his beloved sister. But when Lexie gets some bad news and it looks like the trip is off, the family helps Abe to pull off a wonderful surprise for her…
DID YOU KNOW?
Beverly Todd, who now plays Lexie’s ma Celeste Perrault, played Virginia in the 2008 movie The Bucket List. Look out for this hilarious moment on 28 May when Days plays cheeky tribute to Beverly’s role when Celeste says, “What a wonderful idea! I loved that movie. The actress who played Morgan Freeman’s wife? I always thought that she looked so familiar…”
to make Lexie’s dreams come true.
