Angelique’s (Shannon Esra) been stirring up trouble in recent weeks by intensifying her investigation into Frank’s (Kevin Smith) murder in July. And it seems that the pressure is about to get too much for her.
Suspecting Lincoln’s (Lindani Nkosi) involvement in the murder, Angelique’s been making life especially difficult for the mining magnate. However, when she approaches him with her evidence on Wednesday 2 September, he simply throws it back in her face. Having hit a wall in her hunt for the truth, Angelique does something that she never dreamt she’d do – she gives up and prepares to pack her bags. “She likes the people of The Deep,” Shannon says, “but there’s nothing really beyond her investigation that’s tying her down.” a respectable person to head it up, Barker turns to Angelique for help. “She knows exactly what he’s about,” Shannon maintains. Despite Barker’s jaded past, Angelique agrees on Monday 14 September and ends up sticking around. “What drives her more than anything is a cause,” Shannon reveals. That Barker plans to make Frank’s son Calvin (Maurice Paige) the first beneficiary makes Angelique even more driven to help. “She’s hooked the minute that Barker dangles this in front of her.” Lincoln surprises Angelique when he turns the tables on her, and the power struggle at Sibeko Gold continues. At the church, Sizwe and Gabriel are fighting as usual and this time Sizwe doesn’t hold back. Calvin and Charlie are back home, Nikiwe has her hands full when violence breaks out at the mines, and a selfie of Lerato and S’khu has everyone talking. Nina’s the woman of the moment when Barker and Gabriel have a war of words about who she should work for, and Eddie tries his best to make Yvette feel special. Zukisa is trying to keep her marriage together. Eddie’s given relationship advice, and Zukisa is forced to lie to Sizwe once more when Gabriel asks her for a favour. Later, Gabriel and Barker get together for a secret meeting, while the local police station has a new station chief in the form of Eddie, who’s struggling to get used to his new job. Calvin urges Angelique to drop his father’s murder case, while Charlie tells Yvette that she thinks she’s falling for Calvin. Things then heat up at the Zondile home when Gabriel asks Zukisa to join him on a business trip.
Barker’s offer is going to tug on Angelique’s heartstrings.
