Nombuso’s secret baby with the other lover…
Uzalo Mon-Wed SABC1 20:30
Now officially SA’s biggest show, Uzalo launched on Monday 9 February this year and first overtook Generations – The Legacy (December 2014-current) in June after Muzi Xulu (Mpumelelo Bhulose) buried his wife and son alive. And on Monday 28 September, Uzalo reaches its 100th episode. Series producer Mmamitse Thibedi says, “I am proud that we got to 100 episodes! We are more than two thirds into the season (of 156 episodes). We’re concluding cliffhangers that we set up at the start of the season. It’s been an exhausting process but it’s been awesome.”
Uzalo headwriter Phathu Makwarela adds that “reaching 100 just took everyone by surprise. The next story meeting, everyone was very excited – we had lots of biltong and lots of sweets.” And it’s a huge thank you to the viewers. “As the writing team, we’re eternally grateful that the audience has taken us in their hearts and have made us the biggest show in the country,” says Phathu.
Ayanda and his family (left) and Mxolisi (right) and his family are the main protagonists – and a serious hit with TV audiences.
Fan-favourite Muzi being “killed” got everyone talking.
