Rantu thinks that polygamy may be a solution to his problem.

Ranthumeng (Brian Temba) falling for his niece Imani (Zonke Nchunu) is a big problem, especially because his wife Thandaza (Sindi Dlathu) has to hear about the “suspicious attraction” from James (Dingaan Mokebe) on Wednesday 16 September. Disturbed and horrified by the news, she confronts her hubby, who denies it. But Rantu’s as confused as he is conflicted…
BIG LOVE, BIGGER PROBLEMS
“If this was Chief Azwindini (Gabriel Temudzani), nobody would care if he had another wife in Venda, but it’s Ranthumeng in Joburg and it’s a big deal,” Brian points out. While the actor disapproves of polygamy, he says that he understands where his character is coming from. “Polygamy is something most people don’t agree on but it’s a part of the African culture and younger generations might not understand it. In Venda, having multiple wives or girlfriends is acceptable. If this happened to the chief, then we’re cool with it, but in Rantu’s case, people are being judgemental. That’s double standards. When the viewers see Rantu’s polygamy situation, I think they’ll be biased.”
Brian’s also concerned that Rantu’s good image is now tainted. “Playing this part is stressful and I keep asking myself ‘if I have to act like this’ because people are going to hit me on the streets. If my character was a villain like Gadaffi (Vuyo Dabula) on Generations, then it’s understandable that he has multiple girlfriends, but if you’re a sweetheart like Rantu, how do you deal with that?”
As for the storyline, things change on Wednesday 23 September when Imani gets a job offer, which upsets Rantu. He doesn’t want her to move out but Thandaza sees the attraction for Imani in his eyes, so on Thursday 24 September, she makes Rantu choose: her or Imani. “Rantu’s caught between two women,” says Brian. “He loves both of them but isn’t sure how to go about it without hurting either. The only way that he can keep up with two women is if he’s honourable and owns up to them about what’s going on in his mind. But Thandaza wants nothing to do with it.”
Despite his wife’s displeasure, Rantu’s still pursuing Imani and on Tuesday 29 September he sacrifices a business deal because Imani reveals that the client tried to force himself upon her. Says Brian, “Imani never had anyone take care of her and now Rantu appreciates and respects her, so she sees him as her hero.” A hero maybe, but is it true love?
Thandaza (back) wants her husband to choose between her and Imani. Rantu loves both women.
