With all the complicated relationship melodrama of Grey’s Anatomy (2005- current), combined with the political intrigue of Homeland (2011- current), Quantico (2015) is set to be a hit. The premise is simple: young recruits head to the FBI headquarters in Quantico, Virginia for training, but through flashbacks and flashforwards, we discover that one of them is masterminding the biggest terrorist attack on the US since 9/11. Series star Priyanka Chopra, who plays recruit Alex Parrish, tells us about her Stateside move, sex scenes and overcoming her own self- esteem issues.

What do you love most about playing this character? Alex is the quintessential modern-day woman: smart, confident, beautiful, she takes everything with a pinch of salt and she’s focused. Just because she’s an FBI agent doesn’t mean she has to be macho about it. She’s still feminine. I love playing her. Can you talk about the psychology of your character? I’ve done a few action movies in India, so I was familiar with handling guns and pretending to fight where you’re not actually hitting the person. The psychology of Alex is very complex because we’re running two time zones simultaneously… to keep track of who she is and what she ends up becoming and what she becomes in the middle. In TV, you shoot at such a crazy pace. I’m used to features, where you do one scene in two days and here you’re doing nine scenes in one day, plus you’re doing present, past and future. There are so many revelations that are dropped in an episode. Do you think it’s something you can sustain going forward? A lot of shows have twists, but what we have is 180s [180- degree turns],
