Losing her baby will mean losing Quinton – what is Thembeka to do?
pauses before she has her shocking answer: a new baby.
“She mourns in the doctor’s room for a split second and then she’s like, ‘Okay, when can I have another baby?’ She’s in survival mode where she knows that ‘I’ve got to make another one quickly or I’m going to lose the love of my life!’ So it’s not a decision that’s made with a sober mind,” explains Masasa. Where other women might discuss their tragedy with their partner, a close friend or a family member, none of those are options for Thembeka who’s friendless, far from home and in a marriage that’s on its last legs.
But when Thembeka’s rushed efforts to hustle Quinton into bed don’t pan out within the next few days, she creates an “emergency” with her granny in PE. “She’s worried that she’s going to slip up and admit that she lost the baby, so she goes off to come up with a plan and a new strategy,” reveals Masasa.
Thembeka is so not done yet (see our YouAsk on page 5)! She’ll be back onscreen in early April.
