Lelo’s back! Get ready to see the villainess like never before.

Weekdays SABC1 18:30 Thought that we’d seen the last of Lelo (Amanda du-Pont) when she was hauled to jail in November 2015 after being convicted of kidnapping and trying to kill her exboyfriend Kwaito (Clement Maosa)? Think again! On Thursday 25 February, Kwaito learns that his ex-lover Lelo is on the loose and vows revenge when he finds her. But when Lelo’s most recent ex-lover Mangaliso (Bongani Masondo) hears the news, he’s determined to find Lelo first and find out what’s really going on with the woman who begged him to impregnate her.

By Friday 26 February, Lelo’s prison escape is on everyone’s lips but Lelo is none the wiser. And that’s because, as Mangaliso finds out on Monday 29 February, she’s actually still in prison – just a different one. Stories of her breaking out were all lies! “Mangaliso has been searching high and low for her for the longest time, but Lelo wanted nothing to do with him,” Amanda explains. “In the end, he goes to her publisher Cindy (Phophi Mdau) and Lelo’s upset when she finds out. She isn’t friendly when she comes face to face with Mangaliso as she’s been trying to move on and forget about her life outside of jail.”

Lelo has no idea why her ex is there or of the chaos around her supposed escape. “She has bigger things to worry about, like surviving in jail, and she isn’t concerned about what’s happening on the outside. She’s been through a lot of changes in her life and I guess she’s just trying to make it work and accept her new reality,” says Amanda. “She tried her best to avoid going to jail and even hired the best lawyer, but being in prison has taken a toll on her.”

But don’t feel sorry for Lelo – she has settled nicely and has started writing again. “We just don’t know what it is yet,” says Amanda, who finds this new side to Lelo refreshing. “She’s accepted her reality and is a lot calmer now.”

“It’s very different, because my mind has to be in a different place. Before I left, Lelo was free and now she isn’t. Also, everyone that I’m acting with is new in my world, so that’s also interesting. The dynamics are totally different,” Amanda reveals about playing an imprisoned Lelo.

Lelo’s still in jail – and she’s going nowhere.
