“I mean business”

Sonti learns that playing with the big boys in business is a risky and sleazy exercise.

Charity’s on a mission. Weekdays SABC1 (*191) 18:30

Sonti (Pearl Maimela) confides in her business partner Charity (Makgofe Moagi) about their investor Mr Langa’s (Phillip Molepo) unsavoury advances towards her in exchange for business and she asks Charity to handle the situation on Wednesday 22 June. But instead of fixing things, Charity’s idea leads to a public spat with a powerful man.

FOOL ME ONCE

“Charity pretends not to know what Sonti told her about Mr Langa when she approaches him later on Wednesday 22 June,” says Pearl. “She plans to prove that Mr Langa made advances towards Sonti by having him do the same to her.” And he does! Charity records the conversation and plans to use it to stop the perverted businessman from using his influence to get Sonti to sleep with him in order for her to get business from him.

GOTCHA!

Mr Langa comes out guns blazing when he is approached with the recording on Monday 27 June, aiming right at Sonti and her business. “Sonti threatens to go to the police, but he tells her that the evidence won’t hold up in court and says that they should drop the whole thing, including their contract,” says Pearl. “Sonti isn’t having it because she doesn’t want to lose his business.” On Tuesday 28 June things seem to be looking up for Sonti when she’s called into a meeting with Mr Langa and his business associates, but little does she know that she’s being ganged up on.

PAY UP

Mr Langa walks right into the trap. By Friday 1 July, it’s clear that Mr Langa wants Sonti to pay for trying to tarnish his reputation and he’s not backing down or letting go of what happened. With no legal representation and no one to turn to, Sonti looks set to lose her dream of running a successful business… but then a local lawyer offers to represent her pro bono. Does that mean Sonti’s been saved from menacing Mr Langa, who has the money for an entire legal team? Let the law wars begin!
