Puleng wants a baby but Suffo can’t give her one. Weekdays (*194) 19:00

After Puleng (Tebogo Khalo) is told on Thursday 23 June that she and hubby Suffo (Mduduzi Mabaso) can’t have children together due to a genetic disorder, she gets a way out when Suffo’s meddling aunt Ntombizodwa (Deli Malinga) makes an interesting proposition. The question is: just how far is Puleng willing to go to become a mom?

Puleng agrees to travel to KZN with Ntombizodwa to take a break from the tension in the household due to her baby woes, but when they arrive on Friday 24 June, she’s horrified to find out why Suffo’s aunt asked her to go with. “Ntombizodwa says that Puleng should sleep with Suffo’s brother Themba (Sphamandla Dhludhlu), whom she’s called down to KZN under the guise of a ‘ family ritual’ to be performed requiring his presence,” says Tebogo. “Puleng’s beyond shocked at the thought of falling pregnant with Themba’s child and sees it as the ultimate betrayal. She’s totally against it.”

But by Tuesday 28 June, Puleng has warmed up to the idea of Themba fathering her child and she sets about getting him to agree to the plan. “She goes through a lot of crying, anger and frustration before reaching the decision, knowing that she might lose her marriage,” says Tebogo. But her first attempt on Tuesday 28 June goes horribly wrong when Themba isn’t as keen as she’d hoped he would be after being tricked by his aunt.

Themba’s caught between a rock and a hard place. Ntombizodwa blackmails Themba into sleeping with Puleng on Thursday 30 June by threatening to tell Suffo that Themba slept with Suffo’s other wife Niki (Nolo Phiri) in November 2015. “Rather than Suffo killing him for sleeping with Niki, he obliges,” says Sphamandla. But, Niki and Suffo make a surprise visit on Friday 1 July and Themba spills the beans to Niki on Monday 4 July. He also reveals that Ntombizodwa knows about their affair, so Niki must keep quiet about Puleng to save her own marriage.
