Wrenn Schmidt is famous for her roles in drama and action shows like Boardwalk Empire (2010-2014) as Julia Sagorsky from 2012 to 2013 and Person Of Interest (2011-current) as Dr Campbell from 2014 to 2016. But it’s out with the old and in with the new as Wrenn takes on the devil and exorcisms as Megan in horror series Outcast (2016-current).
The Southern Belle loves period 1
dramas like ’20s mobster-themed Boardwalk Empire and they love her. Says Wrenn, “They totally gravitate towards me. It’s the hair, which I call my 19th-century Jheri Curl. And maybe my European roots.”
Born and bred in South Carolina, 2
she says that her flaming red hair is thanks to her dad’s DNA: “He’s German and there’s some English and Scottish and Irish and a bunch of other things”.
The 23-year-old always wears her 3
hair down as old-school characters and there’s a very good reason for that – Wrenn has a lightswitch tattoo on her neck. “My friend has a paperclip tat on his hip. What would fit me? A lightswitch because I’m the kind of person who’ll wake up at 2am and go, ‘Where am I going? What’s next?’ I’m on 24/ 7!”
Outcast is based on the comic 4
books of the same name by Robert Kirkman, whom Wrenn’s a fan of thanks to his other horror comic-turned-series: The Walking Dead (2010-current). And she got to meet him at her audition. “I didn’t realise that’s the guy. Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman. He is in that room! Not knowing calmed me down!”
She keeps her personal life private 5
but Wrenn did get tongues wagging in March this year by keeping very, very close to Tom Hiddleston, her costar in 2016 biography I Saw The Light about musician icon Hank Williams.
