Luthuli Dlamini’s going back to his sitcom roots.

TV Plus (South Africa) - - YOU ASK -

Hi tvplus. Is it true that Luthuli Dlamini is returning to TV – in a comedy and not a soapie?

Indeed he is! There’s a new local sitcom on the horizon called Soap On A Rope (2016) and it stars Luthuli Dlamini, who might be a well-known soapie star thanks to roles in four SA soaps but is probably best remembered as the dad in M-Net sitcom The Coconuts (2008-2009). Soap On A Rope also stars 7de Laan’s (2000- current) Melanie du Bois (Felicity), Alfred Ntombela (from 2012 Leon Schuster movie Mad Buddies) and Gold Diggers (2015-2016) actress Sonia Sedibe. In an interview, Luthuli described his new sitcom as being “based on the comedy of errors that happen on a TV show’s set. How quirky actors can be behind the scenes.”

Adds producer Menzi Thabede, “This show looks at the drama in the make-up department, art department and between the directors. It’s a sitcom mixed with sketch and laughter.” Soap On A Rope premieres on SABC3 sometime in August and for 13 episodes.

Missing Luthuli Dlamini? He’s on the way back!
