My innocent son

Jabulile’s search for the truth is a nightmare come true for her sister Lindiwe.

TV Plus (South Africa) - - UZALO -

Lindiwe’s (Dawn Thandeka King) head has been on the chopping block from the moment her sister Jabulile (Nompumelelo Ndlovu) left her life behind, drove two hours from Pongola to KwaMashu and moved into Lindiwe’s house. Jabulile will not stop until she proves that her son Bandile (Ayanda Luthuli) could never have killed Zandile Mdletshe’s (Leleti Khumalo) son Nkosinathi (Sipho Mhlongo). Guilt and fear are eating at the real culprits – Lindiwe and Mxolisi (Naymaps Maphalala) – who framed Bandile and got him arrested on 28 March this year. And as Jabulile’s investigation chips away at Lindiwe’s lies, Lindiwe will be haunted by nightmares on Monday 11 July.

On Monday 4 July, Jabulile instantly smelt a rat when she saw the key piece of evidence against Bandile: the bloody T-shirt that she knew couldn’t be his. “She knows her son’s clothes. She washes them and buys them,” insists Nompumelelo. But aside from physical evidence, Jabulile has faith in what her heart tells her. “Bandile is gentle and kind; he would never kill a fly. He used to lie and steal, but she knows that he went to KwaMashu to start a good, new life and that he had committed himself to God.” And when Jabulile speaks to Hlengiwe (Gugu Gumede) on Wednesday 13 July, she gets the boost she needs. “Hlengiwe tells her that she’s going to find the truth, and so that gives her so much confidence that she must fight, she must push.”

Keeping in touch with her son in prison during her investigations is also keeping Jabulile going. “There’s a glass window between the two of them, but she wants to touch her son. She just wants to hug him and tell him that everything is going to be okay. She imagines what he’s eating inside there, she imagines that maybe somebody is abusing him because he’s very gentle. So she just wants to tell him, ‘Mommy is here for you, She’s going to fight for you.” But while the truth makes Jabulile stronger, it weakens Lindiwe, sinking her into darkness on Monday 18 July…

Detective Dhlomo (Don Mlangeni Nawa – left) chats to Jabulile and Mondli.
