Roselyn Sánchez is laughing her way to the bank as Carmen Luna, one of the Latina domestics in dramedy Devious Maids (2013-current). “It’s been incredible to do more comedic roles and learn. I have been acting for many years, but when you do a drama-comedy written by Marc Cherry [who created Desperate Housewives, 2004-2012], it’s like going back to school,” laughs the 43-year-old.

got her taste of fame in crime shows like Without A Trace (2005-2009 – she played Elena Delgado), but when it ended, she wanted more uplifting, happier roles. “I wanted to go to work and laugh. I prayed that the next job chance would be a drama or comedy. I wanted to do something different,” she says.
She was encouraged to audition 2
by friend Eva Longoria (Gaby Solis in Desperate Housewives), who’s one of Devious Maids’ executive producers. The two know each other from Desperate Housewives – Roselyn auditioned for the part of Gaby before Eva was cast.
Roselyn is used to the spotlight – 3
she’s won two beauty pageants, Miss Puerto Rico Petite 1993 and in 1994 she was Miss America Petite.
In mid 2015, Roselyn was offered 4
co-hosting duties of Miss USA but she turned it down following pageant owner Donald Trump’s hate-speech against Mexican immigrants during his presidential election campaign. “I am a proud Latina and [Trump’s] comments were an insult to our culture. I won’t sponsor anything produced by him.”
She married Eric Winter – Dash in 5
fantasy series Witches Of East End (2013-2014) – in 2008. They have one child together, four-year-old daughter Sebella Rose Winter.
