When animals go wild and attack, the world needs an expert to call on and that guy is veterinary pathologist Mitch Morgan, played by Billy Burke in sci-fi show Zoo (2015-current). In the series, Mitch isn’t afraid to get up close with the human-attacking animals, which Billy is slightly hesitant about. “So far I’ve worked with a bear, wolves, a lion cub and house cats [Laughs]. We have fake stuffed versions of all of them!”

The 49-year-old’s been entertain1

ing people for more than half his life – he moved to Hollywood when he was 25 to be a musician but got into acting instead.

His first movie gig was as a musici2

an in 1990 fantasy comedy movie Daredreamer and it took him four years to get onto TV, as “guy in a club” in a 1994 episode of drama show Party Of Five (1994-2000).

Billy’s big career break came in 3

2008 when he was cast as Sheriff Charlie Swan in the box office-breaking vampire Twilight movies (2008-2012). The only thing that he hated about the role was the moustache and he adds, “I shaved it off the day we wrapped!”

He actually became a father while 4

playing one on Twilight. His wife Pollyanna Rose (Sammy in horror flick The Devil’s Chair in 2007) gave birth to daughter Bluesy LaRue Burke in 2008.

And his daughter was an inspira5

tion for Billy’s debut studio album Removed in 2010. The country album includes Bluesy Laruesy as one of the 13 songs that Billy wrote himself. He went one better that year too – Billy was in horror movie Lustre in 2010 and got his wife and daughter small roles in it.
