Season 5 M-Net Edge (*102) 19:00
Captain Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) and her squad of LA cops are back tonight with a brand-new season of Major Crimes (2012-current). And just like with previous seasons, there’s a big, ongoing mystery to investigate. “We’re going to look at the murder of surveillance co-ordinator Buzz Watson’s (Phillip P Keene) father and uncle that was never solved and that is going to run through the entire season,” says the show’s executive producer James Duff. Here are more season 5 highlights…
Moving in together Sharon, who’s been dating Detective Andy Flynn (Tony Denison) since season 3 (2014), contemplates moving in with him in episode 4 (9 August). “The house that they’re eager to purchase is going to end up becoming a crime scene when they find the listing realtor’s body floating in the pool,” says James. Talk about bad luck! Boy trouble Sharon’s adoptive son Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin) has a fresh new look as he’s growing up and is no longer a teenager. But Rusty’s having problems in his love life, specifically when he and boyfriend Gus (Rene Rosado) fight over going away for the weekend in the first episode. In a surprise twist, Rusty’s biological mom Sharon Beck (Ever Carradine), who abandoned him in season 3 (2014), shows up in episode 2 (26 July) with distressing news. Foster parenting Detective Sanchez (Raymond Cruz) wants to make a difference in a kid’s life this season by becoming a foster parent after he works on a case in episode 1 where a foster child was the murderer. It could be a life-altering moment for the tough cop.
