Ayanda’s sex scandal exposed!

Ayanda’s relationship with Sibahle hits the headlines after he lashes out at discrediting Pastor Nkosi.

Pastor Ayanda Mdletshe (Kay Sibiya) is being driven by anger lately. There’s so much confusion, resentment and pain that he just hasn’t dealt with since finding out at the start of this year that he is really a Xulu. And he’s channelling all that passionate sense of betrayal into his feud with rival Pastor Nkosi (Mondli Makhoba), who’s taken over Ayanda’s position at the Kingdom Community Church – a job that Ayanda believes is his destiny. But as Ayanda tries to expose Nkosi’s tricks, he’s going to find that he’s only exposing himself… in a tabloid scandal!

Ayanda’s first attempt to stand up and discredit Nkosi during church on Monday 11 July makes a poor impression. “It’s very spiteful and as you know, Ayanda and Pastor Nkosi have history. He attacks Pastor Nkosi instead of just presenting the evidence and being reasonable about it. He disgraces himself,” admits Kay. “Pastor Nkosi speaks about hypocrites and he criticises Ayanda for not giving him a second chance when Ayanda has been given so many second chances himself. Ayanda’s character is not the most perfect. He’s not the most trustworthy. He’s been fighting in public – like when he was arrested for beating up Mxolisi (Naymaps Maphalala) on Tuesday 7 June – and not setting a good example, so all those things discredit Ayanda.”

On Wednesday 13 July, Ayanda is the one whose morals are in the spotlight – in the worst possible way. A local newspaper makes a scandal out of Ayanda and Sibahle (Londeka Mlaba) being intimate together and it’s frontpage news with photos and a huge headline that sends the church and community into an uproar. “Ayanda walks in and he finds Pastor Nkosi reading the paper. He sees his photo and Sibahle’s photo on the front page. Sex before marriage is seen as a form of adultery, so it’s a scandal. And there’s the fact that everyone knew that Ayanda was engaged to Smangele (Sihle Ndaba) and the next thing he is kissing Sibahle and they’re not even promised [destined to be engaged],” says Kay. “Ayanda is supposed to be a leader and the way the scandal comes out, there’s no way that he could lie or deny anything because the images are actually in the paper and they make front-page news. It’s a big shock.” And when Pastor Nkosi uses the article as a talking point for his sermon of the day while Ayanda and Sibahle are sitting right there, it’s like standing under a steaming shower of shame for Ayanda.

Disgrace only makes Ayanda angrier and on Tuesday 19 July, he reacts with fury when he realises that a man Pastor Nkosi supposedly healed so that he could get out of his wheelchair and dance was never disabled in the first place. “Ayanda remembers that he saw this guy dancing at an event three weeks before he was ‘healed’. He confronts the guy and Ayanda realises that Pastor Nkosi paid the man to pretend that healing took place, to pretend that he was in a wheelchair…” reveals Kay. But Ayanda’s about to blow his one big chance to prove his point…

Ayanda can’t believe what he’s reading.

Ayanda corners the man that Pastor Nkosi “healed”.
