It’s India, it’s 1932 and the British civil service has moved out of the hottest part of the country to Simla, at the foot of the Himalayas in two-season mini-series Indian Summers (2015-2016). It’s time for the start of the summer social season, tea parties and intrigue. “I found the atmosphere of hill stations fascinating,” says series creator Paul Rutman. “These were people trying to recreate this idea of England in an environment that wasn’t England.” Henry Lloyd-Hughes, who plays handsome Ralph Whelan, secretary to Viceroy Of India Lord Willingdon (Patrick Malahide), reveals more about the story…

What was the attraction of Indian Summers? At every stage of the script, characters do things that are strange and make people uncomfortable.
