Tripped or hit?

Ivy is convinced that Steffy killed cousin Aly, but Steffy has another story to tell.

Fragile Aly Forrester (Ashlyn Pearce) has never really recovered from her mom Darla’s (Schae Harrison) death. And now she never will. On the night of Tuesday 9 August, Aly deliberately attacks her cousin Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) on the same stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway where Steffy’s mom Taylor (Hunter Tylo) ran over and killed Darla in 2006. The two struggle, with Aly determined to kill a terrified Steffy and as Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) races to intervene, Steffy takes a swing at Aly, who slips and hits her head on a rock on Thursday 11 August. At least that’s the story Steffy is telling when paramedics take away Aly’s lifeless body. Ivy claims to have seen something different and she has the video footage on her phone to prove it…

ALY WANTS BLOOD

There’s no doubt that Aly wanted Steffy dead. History has been repeat- ing itself over the past fortnight as Aly has constructed a new stalker shrine to how much she hates “slutty” Steffy, the same way she obsessed over Hope’s (Kim Matula) soiled purity in April 2015. The last time that Aly went nuts, her mom Darla’s spirit urged her to “get rid of the filth” at Forrester and she attacked Hope’s lover Wyatt (Darin Brooks) before taking a swing at Taylor with an axe in May 2015. On Tuesday 9 August, when dark visions of her mom Darla urge Aly to kill Steffy the same way that Taylor killed Darla, Aly tries to run Steffy down at the side of the road. When Aly misses on Wednesday 10 August, she jumps out of her car and the two argue briefly before Aly launches herself at Steffy, armed with Steffy’s tyre iron. Dodging and shrieking, there’s nothing Steffy can say to talk Aly down and she’s forced to defend herself – or die!

A FATHER’S GRIEF

Back at Forrester on Thursday 11 August, a shaken Rick (Jacob Young) tells Aly’s father Thorne ( Winsor Harmon), who’s just arrived back in LA, about Ivy’s got the whole fight on tape. Well almost the whole thing…

CAN MEMORIES LIE?

But on Tuesday 16 August, the day after Aly’s funeral, Ivy start challenging Steffy about her claims that Aly slipped with such conviction that viewers will start doubting what they’ve seen, more so after they see Ivy’s video. Ivy is convinced that Steffy killed Aly by hitting her in the head with that tyre iron, but Steffy is equally convinced that she saw Aly move to avoid the blow, then fall. “She truly believes there’s no way she killed Aly,” reveals Jacqueline. “It’s a blur for her. Everything happened so quickly, Steffy doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not. Like she’s mentally checked out and gone into primal mode.” As for that video, Jacqueline points out, “Why is there video? Think about it. Ivy is driving down the road and comes across her best friend Aly attacking Steffy and instead of trying to stop the fight, she records it? Who does that?” That’s a good point, actually!
