Season 1 M-Net (*101) 19:30
Pop star and actress Miranda Cosgrove has grown up since her 2003 film debut in School Of Rock and in newly canned sitcom Crowded (2016), she plays college graduate Shea, who’s moved back in with her parents and adult sister. Not that it’s taken a lot of research for the role, says Miranda. “I still live at home and I love it! It’s so much easier.”
The 23-year-old’s been in the busi1
ness for 20 years – she was discovered dancing at a restaurant with her housewife mom Chris and businessman dad Tom. And her first job? Appearing in a McDonald’s advert.
While she loves touring for work, 2
2011 was a bad year for Miranda – her bus was in a crash and she broke her ankle. “I had to walk on crutches for months, which sucked a lot,” she says.
And it cost her a small fortune. 3
Sony cancelled her Dancing Crazy Tour (at least 25 concerts) and Miranda lost out on a $400 000 (R5.7 million) payday. She sued the bus company for $50 000 (R700 000) although no settlement has been revealed.
That’s not the only drama she’s 4
experienced. In 2013, a crazed fan was ordered to stay at least 30m away from Miranda after he threatened to kill himself to prove his love.
Miranda had a phobia of getting 5
her ears pierced but she took the plunge in 2013 after watching a piercing session. She proudly posted a pic on her Instagram account @mirandacosgrove, along with “Got my ears pierced today #alittlelate”.
She’s quite the smartypants too. 6
Miranda was accepted into New York University and the University Of Southern California in 2011. She opted for the latter, to stay closer to her folks while studying Film & Theatre.
