All loved up
Kat has found love again – until things get complicated.

Kat’s (Patrick Seleka) had his heart stomped on by Mapitsi (Mogau Mothlatswi) in 2011 and Botshelo (Neo Ramitshana) ditched him in 2014 for a basketball scholarship. It seems his bad-love luck is changing though when he spots a pretty girl at culinary school, but then racism rears its head to stop them in their tracks.
WHO’S THAT GIRL?
Kat goes gaga for Candice (Liza van Deventer) after seeing her in chef Marlene’s (Camilla Waldman) class on Wednesday 24 August. “She is pretty and learnt to cook from her gran, who is the centre of her life, just like his is to him,” says Patrick. But Kat sees Candice in a new light on Thursday 25 August. “There are things in class that he didn’t see at first because he was falling for Candice and when his classmate Sphola (Thabang Lefoa) makes him aware of them, he sees his lecturer and Candice in a completely new way,” he says.
THIS IS WAR
“Kat is angry when he realises that chef Marlene is racist towards black students, but more so that Candice is all buddy-buddy with her,” says Patrick. Kat likes Candice, but there’s a problem… “He’s upset with Candice and lets his anger cloud his feelings for her.” But by Friday 26 August, Candice proves to Kat that she’s nothing like Marlene. “She hasn’t dated outside her race and she’s trying to figure out if it’s real or not before she commits to anything,” explains Patrick. “But when Kat wants something, nothing stands in his way.”
SILENCING THE CRITIC
On Monday 29 August, Kat is determined to show chef Marlene who’s boss when she makes a reference that she doesn’t expect him to understand. “It’s something about a movie he watched, that she wouldn’t have expected from him,” Patrick says. “The thing about the storyline is that Marlene is always looking down on black students, constantly making snide comments and patronising them.” But chef Marlene’s in for an even bigger surprise as she has no idea about Candice and Kat’s blossoming romance. And she’s not the only one…
