Season 2 SABC2 (*192) 21:30

Fumani Shilubana has been outstanding as loathsome, corrupt construction boss Rudzani throughout season 2 of Thola (2014-2016). “I know that viewers don’t like Rudzani, but they will take a lot of gratification from how it ends for him,” Fumani teases of tonight’s season finale. “He’s very unhappy because his meticulous plans might not play out as he’d hoped.” While we rub our hands and wait for that to happen, we have some final questions for Fumani…

Which five of Rudzani’s actions have you found the most shocking? Faking his own death (season 1, April 2014)… and then framing his wife Dibuseng (then Nthati Moshesh) for it (throughout season 1)! He chose for his daughter Kone to die (season 1 episode 15) just for a business deal not to go wrong – that was by far the worst thing he did! While Dibuseng (played by KB Motsilanyane this season) was in prison (season 2, from May 2016) he made sure that she had a terrible time… and this was after he took everything from her. Then there was orchestrating Dibuseng’s death while she was in prison (season 2 episode 5). Does he have any good points? Rudzani is a smart engineer who, in season 1, got lowered into the corruption world. He also loves his son Shoni (Paballo Koza) very much. So what was his biggest mistake? Stealing from the Samaki Motha cartel and also trusting his girlfriend Lufuno (Lerato Zah Moloi). What would you do if you met Rudzani in real life? I’d run in the opposite direction because I don’t think that he’s a human being anymore! However, I would feel sorry for him because he’s so far gone that there’s nothing that one can do to redeem him.
