Things aren’t looking up for the space bounty hunters of Killjoys (2015- current), especially after the season 1 finale on Monday 23 May 2016 when the fate of the trio was left on a cliffhanger. D’avin Jaqobis (Luke Macfarlane) was kidnapped and dragged to the creepy Red 17 facility where science experiments are done, while his brother John Jaqobis (Aaron Ashmore) and their femme-fatale leader Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) raced to the planet of Westerley to save their friends before the city of Old Town was bombed. “There is a small time jump at the start of season 2 and the team is focussed on finding D’avin,” reveals series creator Michelle Lovretta.

RESCUE ME

The Red 17 facility is a nightmarish lab where baddie Khlyen (Rob Stewart) wants to use green goo to turn D’avin into a super-soldier. Luckily, John and Dutch rescue their pal before his DNA is completely mutated, but Khlyen’s goo has left D’avin with some unique (and handy) abilities, like in episode 5 (21 November) – he swaps bodies with Khlyen to complete a plan. But if the team thought that green goo was their only problem, they’re wrong! Liam Jelco (Pascal Langdale) is a military officer who’s mastered the art of extracting info. “He becomes a big part of what’s happening in Old Town,” explains Michelle.

NEW & FAMILIAR FACES

It’s not easy fighting baddies when there’s only three of you, so the trio have a little help along the way… The team meet newcomer Clara (Stephanie Leonidas, Sophie in mystery series American Gothic, 2016current), who’s nicknamed her cybernetic weapon arm “Alice”. Returning from season 1 to help is Dr Pawter Simms (Sarah Power, Jennifer in American Gothic), as well as bar owner Pree (Thom Allison, Gil in drama series Private Eyes, 2016- current). NB! Killjoys was renewed for season 3, set to air 2017.
