Imagine telling your mother to choose between you and Neo – and she chooses convicted bad-guy Neo!
Naledi’s on the warpath when she sees Neo. Weekdays e.tv (*194) 19:30
When Yvonne (Kgomotso Christopher) finds out on Wednesday 26 October that her shady business contact Moscow is actually evil, supposed-dead crime kingpin Neo Mokheti (Jerry Mofokeng), it exposes an intense conflict of interest between her selfishness and her desire to connect with her daughter Naledi (Dineo Moeketsi). There’s no getting around it, especially not after Naledi lays into Neo at the NFH offices on Thursday 27 October and accuses him of murder in front of everyone! “Naledi hears that Neo is in town. She comes back to the office with no intention to confront him, but she finds him strolling out of the boardroom after having a meeting with Eddie (Sandy Mokwena) and she completely loses her mind,” reveals Dineo.
MY BROTHER’S KILLER
Naledi’s hatred of Neo can’t be swept under the rug. “Naledi is furious that her brother’s killer is walking free, because she was always under the impression that Neo had died,” says Dineo. “It’s part of the reason that Naledi was fighting her father (the late Hector Thebe, played by Tumisho Masha) so much – she felt that he was chasing a ghost. And now there’s an element of regret and guilt regarding all that confrontation. She thinks that she’s now taking on the responsibility of fighting for her legacy.”
When Yvonne bows to Neo’s warning to get Naledi to back off – or else – Naledi is appalled. She had no idea that they were in cahoots. “She was under the impression that Moscow is some character among many because every night Yvonne goes out with people who Naledi isn’t familiar with,” explains Dineo. “Naledi was starting accept her mother for what she is. She thought, ‘You know what, Yvonne’s an adult, let’s just work on what we have. At least there’s one parent who’s alive’. But Mom’s only out to look out for herself, which hurts Naledi intensely.”
Neo has no fear when it comes to a confrontation. Without her mother’s support on Thursday 3 November, Naledi turns to someone who knows what it’s like to live in fear of Neo – Mangi Nyathi (Kagiso Modupe). But she’s about to step blindfolded into these ex- cons’ world of dangerous world of unspoken rules and alliances…
