Two & A Half Men
Season 11 SABC3 (*193) 21:00 Comedy
Troublemaker Charlie Sheen’s character Charlie Harper is no more on season 11 of sitcom Two & A Half Men (2003-2015) but his DNA is still flowing through the veins of his long-lost daughter Jenny (Amber Tamblyn). And it turns out Amber loves her sassy role – “I loved dropping the F-bomb during my screen test with Jon Cryer (Jenny’s uncle Alan in the show),” she recalls with delight.
The 33-year-old has made a career 1
from playing eccentric characters, like Joan Girardi in fantasy series Joan Of Arcadia (2003-2005), who spoke to God. She adds that “playing interesting characters is a family thing. My dad Russ Tamblyn was Dr Jacoby in fantasy show Twin Peaks (1990-1991) and my granddad Eddie performed vaudeville”.
Amber’s work isn’t the only place 2
she enjoys a touch of the unconventional – she wore a yellow frock to marry 52-year-old David Cross (Dr Tobias Fünke in sitcom Arrested Development, 2003-2013) in a forest in 2012.
As a teen, she convinced a home3
less man to pose as her dad to get her bellybutton pierced. It got infected and she had to tell her parents – Amber suggested the storyline to her writers and it was used as a storyline on Joan Of Arcadia in 2003.
She’s been a published poet since 4
the age of 12 and says that “it’s so special to know that someone else can enjoy something that you felt and you connected with”.
Amber calls her best friends “my 5
girls”, from their 2005 drama film The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants: America Ferrera (Amy on sitcom Superstore, 2015-current), Alexis Bledel (Rory on drama show Gilmore Girls, 20002007) and Blake Lively (Serena on drama series Gossip Girl, 2007-2012).
