Five friends from ’90s British drama Cold Feet (1997-current) return 13 years after season 5 ended in 2003 with Adam’s (James Nesbitt) wife Rachel (Helen Baxendale) dying in a car crash and the pals going their separate ways. The drama’s not over, as original writer Mike Bullen says: “This re-commission confirms that we didn’t mess it [the season 5 finale] up.” Here’s what lies ahead in the next eight episodes, set 13 years later…
Widower Adam is back from Sing1
apore in episode 1 (9 November) with good news, but no one’s happy about his new fiancée, who’s 18 years younger than Adam.
Episode 1 also reveals that Adam 2
and Rachel’s son Matthew (Ceallach Spellman) hasn’t been coping since Rachel’s death and he rebels against Adam’s news by abusing drugs. Meanwhile, Adam’s childhood friend Pete (John Thomson) is unemployed and facing a mid-life crisis.
Pete isn’t the only one without a 3
job – his consultant friend David (Robert Bathurst) is suspended from work in episode 3 (23 November) on (false) fraud charges.
Worse news is on the way for 4
David in episode 4 (30 November) when his wife Robyn (Lucy Robinson) wants a divorce. David is left with no home and no money, so he’s forced to rely on his twin teen daughters and exwife Karen (Hermione Norris) for help. David worries though that he’s making life tough for Karen and her new lover.
In episode 6 (14 December), Jenny 5
(Fay Ripley) is shocked when one of her exes shows up begging for forgiveness and to see his daughter Chloe (Madeleine Edmondson). Jenny decides not to tell Chloe that Pete isn’t her real dad but the secret slips out.
