True love

Stefano forces Sami and EJ to give up their freedom for each other.

TV Plus (South Africa) - - DAYS -

If love is about sacrifice, then the most romantic thing that EJ (James Scott) has done was to go down on his knees, take his father Stefano’s (Joseph Mascolo) hand and kiss his ring on Friday 18 November, swearing to obey the DiMera crimeboss’s every whim if Stefano saved EJ’s fiancée Sami (Alison Sweeney) from going to jail. So Stefano waved his hand, granted EJ’s wish and the case against Sami fell apart on Tuesday 22 November. But when Sami finds out what her freedom has cost, will she take the kids and flee Salem?

On Friday 25 November, Sami and EJ’s post-prison “honeymoon” is over when Stefano reminds EJ that he needs to keep up his end of their deal and get all the DiMeras living under one roof. EJ’s brother Chad (Casey Deidrick) is easy, but Sami… not so much. For one thing, Stefano nearly got her sent to prison for a long, long time. On Thursday 1 December, before EJ can break the news gently, Sami catches Stefano replacing her and EJ’s portrait with his own at the DiMera mansion. Surprise! Forced to own up to what he had to give Stefano to save her, EJ admits to Sami, “I gave him back everything.”

On Friday 2 December, Sami asks EJ to take the kids and run away with her. But all that EJ can say is, “I gave him my word as a DiMera.” EJ thinks that he’s lost Sami for good after she storms out, but on Monday 5 December she comes back and tells her fiancé, “I am so embarrassed for walking out on you, EJ. I’m not gonna let you live there without me. You fought so hard for so long to get out from under Stefano and you did it. You won. And then you just gave it all up for me. How could I walk away from you when you did that for me? You went to hell for me. And I’m not gonna leave you alone in it!” Big sacrifices all round. We’re not crying, Days fans, it’s just so dusty in that old DiMera mansion…

Stefano’s loving every second of controlling Sami and EJ.
