EYES WIDE OPEN

TV Plus (South Africa) - - GENERATIONS – THE LEGACY -

“I did a lot of research into human trafficking,” Mahlatse says. “I thankfully haven’t experienced this firsthand, but the person I spoke to about it, her little sister had been taken. It’s so scary to know that it’s happening right here, around the corner from you.” She adds that from what she’s learnt, read and heard, “These [human trafficker] people zoom in on kids who’re orphans, who have no parents and are on the street. They target them because they have no social skills, no education, they don’t have anyone coming to look for them. They are easy targets. But it can and does happen to anyone – you need to keep your eyes open!”
