Vows, wows from familiar faces and drama – 7de Laan celebrates episode 4 000 in true soapie style.
7de Laan Weekdays SABC2 (*192) 18:00
The residents of fictional Jozi suburb Hillside have been on TV since 2000 and how better to celebrate 7de Laan’s episode #4 000 than with a wedding… or at least a vow renewal? And while fans still miss the likes of architect Leon de Lange (David Minnaar), super-villain Sandra Stutterheim (Heléne Lombard) and matriarch Madel Terblanche ( Wilna Snyman), a few familiar characters were back for Thursday 9 March to watch as Xander and Vanessa (Theo Jantjies and Ingrid Paulus) recommit in a romantic ceremony – while on the set, tvplus spotted Dezi (Elma Postma), Karien (Christi Panagio) and next to them Wilmien (Nina Swart).
A SECOND CHANCE
Vanessa and Xander didn’t really have a wedding in 2007 – they got hitched by the magistrate, so this is their shot at “doing it right,” laughs Ingrid. And there’s added incentive after a rather turbulent February – their marriage was failing under their careers and they were ignoring their daughter Karmen (Gabriella Linton) to the point where they forgot her in the car one night. But what’s a soap wedding without drama? Karmen’s missing at the end of the episode on 9 March and Theo reveals that “she’s been kidnapped. It’s going to be a while before Xander and Vanessa find out who’s got her”.
It hits Vanessa especially hard and the stressed mother is an emotional mess on Wednesday 15 March. “She’s holding Karmen’s doll Muriel and believes that it’s her daughter,” Ingrid reveals. “Xander goes ice cold when he sees this behaviour and he doesn’t want her to go back to work [on Monday 20 March].” Vanessa ignores him but later Xander bumps into Vanessa’s employee Justin (Dann-Jacques Mouton) who tells him that Vanessa never arrived at the Bruynwaves offices and no one’s heard from her all day…
The day starts well for in-love Vanessa and Xander…
