Anthology drama show American Horror Story (2011-current) has cast Billy Eichner (Billy in comedy Difficult People, 2015-current) for season 7, which goes into production this year and will focus on the 2016 US presidential elections. While almost nothing is known of the plot and Billy’s role, creator Ryan Murphy has said that Billy “will mostly be wearing mysterious tank tops” and real-life politicians Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton won’t feature, even as characters.

Soapie Young & Restless (1973current) has is reportedly writing out Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson). Y&R is yet to comment but rumour has it she’s been taken off contract and Chloe’s storylines will dry up before she’s given the axe.

The creators of comedy show How I Met Your Mother (20052014) are making their way back to TV with their sitcom Real Life, due later this year. Ryan Hansen (Dick in drama show Veronica Mars, 20042007) and Rebecca Rittenhouse (Anna in comedy The Mindy Project, 2012-current) play coworkers who go from working at opposite ends of the country to sharing the same office.

Don’t expect to see Emily Deschanel (Dr Temperace Brennan in action- drama Bones, 2005-2017) on TV anytime soon – she’s taking “a break to grieve and process” her show coming to an end. “I’m mourning that I don’t get to see those people every day. It will never be the same. I’m in the process of mourning the show itself. I think that will take longer to mourn, to kind of know what the show was for me and how it fits into TV history.”

Hinting that iconic sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (1990-1996) is getting a reboot? That’s what fans are begging for after Will Smith and his co-stars popped up online in this mini-reunion photo 21 years after the show ended. Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton, posted the snap on his Instagram account with the caption “Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince Family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete”. James, who played Uncle Phil, passed away in 2013 due to complications from open-heart surgery. Laurel Lance and her alter ego Black Canary might’ve been killed off in season 4 of action sci-fi show Arrow (2012-current), but that doesn’t mean actress Katie Cassidy has left. Surprise – Katie’s coming back in season 5 as Black Laurel’s doppelgänger. The shows executive producer Marc Guggenheim says that “we were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished.” She will return as a regular in season 6 in 2018.

Johnny Galecki is taking part of his sciency character Leonard from comedy series Big Bang Theory (2007-current) to SciJinks, due later this year. The reality show, which will star and be produced by Johnny, will use science technology to pull pranks on people.

SPOILER ALERT! It’s only taken six years but as sitcom New Girl (2011- current) draws to a close, Schmidt’s (Mac Greenfield) longguarded secret first name has been revealed… and it’s the same as one of the other characters. The writers planned to reveal it at the end of season 1 but kept it a running gag, and while sources say that it’s changed a few times, it’s officially “Winston Schmidt”, not to be confused with fellow character Winston (Lamorne Morris).

Billy Eichner is joining American Horror Story.

Katie Cassidy is returning to Arrow.
