And baby almost makes three…
Mulalo’s broodiness sends his wife Teboho scheming.
If being mayor of Thathe wasn’t keeping Mulalo (Sydney Ramakuela) busy enough, he’s also got his hands full with the women in his life: his wife Teboho (Liteboho Molise) and his mistress Shonisani (Tshinondiwa Thovhakale), who’s also dating local witchdoctor Mulimisi (Humbulani Tsharani). The ladies are at odds, fighting for Mulalo’s attention, but Teboho gets an idea to keep her man on Monday 8 May: an heir.
WIFE vs MISTRESS
Teboho suffered a miscarriage a couple of years ago and she’s been bitter ever since. She takes a gamble and visits her doctor on Tuesday 9 May, hoping that she will get good news: that she’s able to conceive. But as Sydney reveals, luck isn’t on her side. “She’s unable to have children and that pains Teboho even more as she knows that her husband is eager to start a family.” While she’s as cunning as a fox, Teboho is well aware that a younger and more fertile Shoni would be a more favourable option to Mulalo after she tells him about her doctor’s appointment on Wednesday 10 May. “At this point, it is a very real concern for Teboho,” admits Sydney. “There is always that chance while there is another woman in his life.”
A BABY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS
But just like magic – and maybe with a little divine intervention from the ancestors in Thathe – a baby lands on Mulalo and Teboho’s doorstep the very next day, on Thursday 11 May. Mulalo is stunned, as Sydney explains. “This baby boy being left at their door is actually a case of mistaken identity. The woman who left it there confused Mulalo the mayor with the baby’s real father, another Mulalo also living in Thathe.” Try taking the tot away from doting Mulalo though. He enjoys caring for the baby so much that by later that day, he’s considering adoption.
Not that Teboho is pleased with this turn of events when her husband tells her. “She’s beyond angry,” says Sydney, “angry that her husband is crazy over someone else’s child. Her plan was to give him a child of their own flesh and blood, but now she’s told that he is already planning to change his will to include this baby who belongs to someone else. No way!”
RETURN OF THE MAMA
Mulalo going googoo for the baby is short-lived though because the mother returns on Tuesday 16 May. She realised her mistake and she’s back to take her son to its rightful father – the other Mulalo. “He’s sad and disappointed,” Sydney reveals. “He actually refuses to part with the baby that he’s grown so fond of [in less than a week] and he’s furious that its mother could be so reckless.” Realising that the law won’t be on his side – and taking his position as mayor into consideration – Mulalo gives the baby back. That doesn’t mean that he’s giving up on his dreams of fatherhood. In fact, it might just be the jolt he needs to look for a babymama away from home…
Mulalo and Teboho won’t be smiling when their own baby dreams go down the drain.
Will Shonisani be able to give Mulalo what he wants?
