Mad about money
Barker pays off community members to take his cash-now offer, and Nikiwe is feeling unsettled about her relationship with Gabriel and they decide to have a recommitting ceremony. Later, at the ceremony, Nikiwe lets go of Gabriel’s hand mid-service and says that she needs more time to clear her head and “figure us out”. Hostel manager Hendrik’s (Gérard Rudolf ) temper simmers when Matlala and Sechaba mock him at the mines, and wheeler-dealer Morongwa’s illegal liquor business goes bankrupt.
Anja (Lee Visagie) is becoming a problem child and the angsty teenager finds new ways to overstep her parents’ rules while her dad Hendrik is preoccupied with his work on the Horizon Deep mines. Angelique tells Sechaba that she needs a huge deposit to start the land compensation case against Barker but there’s no chance of him having that amount of money. Nikiwe is stunned when she sees who else is at the company merger meeting between Sibeko Gold and Haines International. Rajesh
and Barker are on opposing sides of the business and Rajesh asks Basetsana and Sechaba to help him stop Barker. Nikiwe goes missing and everyone’s puzzled, including Gabriel. Georgie returns with a pleasant surprise, and Benjamin is back in The Deep to do damage to Barker’s bank balance.
Anja’s got her eye on Benjamin and returning Obakeng (Anga Makubalo) despite them both being off the market, and Anja’s troublemaker brother Zandre (Deandre Reiners) lands himself in trouble. Later, Zandre heads to varsity in Cape Town but there’s a problem: his spot has been given to another student, and Benjamin tries to stop Gabriel from abusing Nikiwe but Gabriel puts Ben in his place.
Sechaba wants land, not cash.
The Deep panics when Nikiwe disappears.
