WHY THOBILE?

TV Plus (South Africa) - - UZALO -

“They couldn’t have chosen a better character for this story,” says Nokuthula. “Thobile is very positive and very bubbly. And when she moves from one chapter to the next, she moves on a positive note. Thobile is about girl power.” And finding out that Thobile has been a rape survivor all along sends a message of hope to anyone who’s currently battling abuse: that the trauma doesn’t have to be the dominant story in their lives. Nokuthula is hoping that the story will make a change. “At some point I couldn’t stop crying. It was upsetting, it made me angry. I was thinking about a person who has a family member who’s raping them, sitting there together watching this show. It was heartbreaking. I hope whoever’s doing that is never going to do it again.”
