Tropika Island Of Treasure Season 7 SABC3 (*193) 19:30

Strict but fair Tropika Island Of Treasure (2008-current) games master Jonathan Boynton-Lee got so wrapped up in the action this season in the Seychelles that he could barely keep his shirt on! But he didn’t get to play, so we’re giving him a little obstacle course of our own with some questions about the show…

You interviewed the consumer contestants right at the start – who surprised you most?

I only interviewed Michelle, Wim and Savannah while they were waiting in the queues and I remember thinking that they had something special to offer. Michelle was really quiet the first time we spoke to her. On the island, she was the opposite.

Which of the contestants chaffed and tested you the most?

They were all pretty well behaved, actually. I think they were always in such a zone dur-

ing challenges that they were just focused on the finish line. Michelle swore at me a lot but that’s about it.

Which of the celebs and which of the consumer contestants would you have wanted as your partner?

For the celeb, I’m obviously going to say Siv Ngesi cause he’s my best mate. Consumer wise, it’s a tough call – they were all so good.

So did you get to try out the courses before the teams did?

No, I didn’t really get to [Laughs]. I just kind of walked through each one and checked everything before, so I had serious FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). The most difficult one is definitely the finale challenge (on Monday 12 June).

Was this the only project that you were working on at the time?

I had some writing deadlines for a movie that I’m working on at the moment, which I’d work on at night. But otherwise my focus was entirely on the show.

How much sunblock did you go through?

[Laughs] I have absolutely no idea, but I can tell you that it was a lot. Even when I didn’t need any more sunblock, I would ask one of the beautiful women I was surrounded by to rub some more on for me in those hard-to-reach spots.
