Trapped like a rat
Shady Ian is getting a taste of his own medicine behind bars.
Ian (Abduraghmaan Adams) was put in jail for embezzlement on Tuesday 18 July and while he thinks that he’s getting away Scott free, the owner of Suidooster Properties is in for a nasty surprise. The very next day, Wednesday 19 July, he’s still behind bars and his biggest support is going to turn her back on him!
ANGER & REVENGE
Ian’s sister-in-law and business partner Lee-Ann (Portia Joel) flagged missing money in the business trust account and Abdu says that “Ian used the cash to enrich himself and fund his other dirty schemes”. Ian doesn’t even need to try to work out who caught him: Lee-Ann told him to his face when he was hauled off in cuffs on Tuesday 18 July. But that’s not his biggest worry: his wife Bridgette (Denise Newman) gives him the cold shoulder on Wednesday 19 July. “This scandal is just too big for her to accept and deal with,” explains Denise. “She turned a blind eye to his other criminal plans, but she can no longer do that and pretend that everything is above board.” Later that day, he’s also denied bail! Ouch!
In a desperate bid for freedom, Ian summons his friend Chris (Marcel van Heerden) to the jail on Thursday 20 July to help with a plan for freedom. “Ian thinks that he’s always in control and that the cards will always fall in his favour,” says Abdu. But that isn’t happening – again! Chris tells him that there’s nothing he can do to help Ian right now, but there is another option – it’s just going to cost Ian an arm and leg. Ian needs to do a “favour” in exchange for help from his dangerous cellmate Plakkies (Noel Oostendorp).
MATTER OF LIFE & DEATH
Life at the October house takes an ugly turn on Tuesday 25 July when Bridgette’s credit cards are declined at the shops – they’ve been frozen! “This is the cherry on the icing for her. The mess with Ian hits her hard now,” adds Denise. Ian sends her a message on Wednesday 26 July and tells her to sell their luxury assets to fund their need for cash but Bridgette refuses. On Thursday 27 July, Ian takes another punch to the gut – literally this time as masked men jump him in his cell and beat him to a bloody pulp. “Jail isn’t a friendly place at the best of times,” says Abdu, “so Ian needs to learn to survive. He isn’t going anywhere for now!”
Ian’s (left) prison problems get worse when he gets involved with his cellmate Plakkies. Bridgette drops her husband like a hot potato.
