Lerato and her hubby Sechaba are the centre of attention today. Weekdays SABC3 (*193) 19:00 Soapie
There’s always some form of drama in The Deep and Isidingo’s (1998-current) ability to introduce current events at a moment’s notice has made the soapie stand out over the years. And today is a special episode – Isidingo is celebrating episode #100 of its 20th season. “There is an amazing team of writers and new faces, together with the recognisable talent, who’ve all contributed to the lasting success of Isidingo,” explains executive producer Pumla Hopa, “and hopefully the series will be around for many years to come!”
For this special episode, the soapie is zooming in on Lerato (Tema Sebopedi). “She wants to talk to her hubby Sechaba (Motlatsi Mafatshe) about starting a family,” says Tema. “She has wanted children for so long but Lerato has a medical condition that prevents her from falling pregnant. There’s a lot on her mind right now, but wanting to start a family is an ongoing topic and it’s always at the top of the list.”
Behind the scenes, the soapie had a little party to celebrate their milestone of success. “There was cake and lots of fun. It was really nice to just hang out with everyone,” says Tema. “I’ve been on Isidingo since 2010 and still feel like I’m the new kid. I’m learning every day and I’m still in awe of actors like Robert Whitehead [Barker Haines].”
As for Lerato’s immediate future, Tema hints that good things could be on the way. “She will definitely be in a better space in the not-so-faroff future,” says Tema. “Her salon that burnt down in May 2017 will be up and running in no time. Plus, the land claim disputes will encourage her to support her hubby and engage with the community.” NB! See more on p22.
