There’s a simple reason that SABC3 chose to keep Bold & Beautiful and ditch Days Of Our Lives.
Why is Bold & Beautiful still showing on SABC3 and Days isn’t? YAEL GOCHIN, VIA FACEBOOK For SABC3, it’s a matter of viewership, according to publicist Doulha Domingo. Bold (1987- current) has always been the more popular and being yo-yoed in and out the schedule didn’t help Days’ (1965- current) figures. Days was cancelled in June 2016, brought back at 00:00 on 22 August 2016, then moved to 22:30 timeslot in March 2017, before being dropped by the channel on 22 August 2017 (exactly a year later, at the end of SABC3’s season).
Days lost viewers in its 00:00 slot and the move to 22:30 didn’t fix things. From December 2016 to June 2017, Bold was in SABC3’s top-20 viewership list (only falling out of the top 20 in July 2017) – Days didn’t crack the top 20 once on SABC3. Plus there are other factors: as a 30-minute soap, Bold is easier to schedule and we’re 18 months behind the US, while Days is three years behind, so Bold feels fresher too.

Brooke and Bold are still on SABC3, while EJ and Days are now on e.tv.
