The Queen’s set is full of hidden secrets…

Everything looks simple on camera, but in reality, there is a whole lot going on. When tvplus went on set to The Queen’s filming location in Joburg, we got an exclusive inside scoop from the set director Odette Earle on the Khoza mansion pool, the patio and a sneak preview of a brandnew location that is yet to be revealed.

While tvplus was looking around, there was a door that led into a basement and Odette explained that it was a new set that they’re working on. “It’s going to be a bar as you can see the furnishings have arrived,” she explains. The stools, tables and panelling have been set up but no further work has been arrived.

Chilling outside While the women get to relax inside on the oversized couches, the men get to be outside on the patio. Odette mentions that the Khoza men have access to the patio from their mancave, so there’s a little extra privacy to chat.

Poolside On camera, the pool is crystal blue, but it was nothing like that a few days before tvplus arrived on set. “It was green and yucky,” reveals Odette. We had to have the new pool restored to look like the original Khoza pool and then it had to be cleaned to give it that sparkly effect.” Also adding to the clear waters is a lighting panel that is used at night.
